My
Story

The journey to being a bridal hair and makeup artist has been an interesting one, for sure! Even from a young age, I knew I wasn't destined for a normal 9-5, but I didn't quite know what the alternative was. I first become interested in makeup when I went to University in 2014. When I was meant to be studying history at University of York, you would probably find me watching makeup tutorials on YouTube, or creating a fun makeup look to post on Instagram, or doing my friends makeup for a night out!

After graduating, my Parents encouraged me to pursue further education in makeup, and I went onto study media makeup and hair design for 3 years. From there I worked as a makeup artist and hairstylist for film and TV, but would sometimes do weddings on the side. Summer 2021 rolled around, and all the postponed Covid weddings meant I took on a lot more brides than before, and absolutely loved it! And that's when I realised that this was the perfect job for me (and it only took 26 years and 2 degrees!!)

Why I love my job!

Being a bridal hair and makeup artist is the best job I could have dreamed of, for so many reasons!

I love makeup and hairstyling. I love how transformative it is, and how it can make you feel. It's truly a gift. Makeup can make you feel confident, beautiful and unstoppable.

I love working with my hands and being creative. Don't get me wrong, some days are spent at my laptop, but most days are spent creating something beautiful.

I am a girls girl through and through! I absolutely love working with women! Wedding mornings are so much fun! Having girlie chats and laughs for a living is the best!!

Being a part of someone's wedding day is so rewarding. There is always so much love in the room! It's such a momentous day, that you've spent so long planning, and it's truly a honour to be part of that!

I love working for myself! Being a one woman band definitely has it's challenges, but having the flexibility of being my own boss is incredible. And it makes it all the more special when you book me for your wedding day.

What I'm loving right now

Our lovely little cottage

My partner Jack and I live in a beautiful 19th century cottage in York, which is also a B&B that we run together. We love welcoming guests to our 4 beautiful double ensuite rooms. Pinfold Cottage was set up by Jack's Mum Nicky, who unfortunately is no longer with us.

We feel so lucky to carry on her legacy and keep Pinfold Cottage in the family.

Check out Pinfold Cottage here and please get in touch if you'd like to stay with us.
